how it works is the cable companies overcharge for their mediocre service and local stations are dying and the consumer gets fleeced in the process.

  8. acgamesinc says:

    How does THIS work?

My internet radio show out of csulb (TPSradio) used to be broadcast on LBCTelevision (cable access TV channel 65 here in Long Beach and Signal Hill, CA). The visual was the cable access channel’s community calendar (text and graphics).

Our channel has been dark since ‘09 and should restart soon! With the new digital switch, WILL internet radio STILL be able to be broadcast this way?

All I know is that the setup entails a computer at each location: csulb+charter

  16. gizmox4 says:

check out some cable splicing I found!!!!

  17. acidtrashy says:

    yeah. really.

  18. Wizho117MX says:

Yeah, I’ve seen lots of optic nodes in my city, right next to a fiber splice. The internet here is Hybrid coaxial and fiber, and the cable company has been adding more fiber lines lately, maybe they’re working on the new digital telephone service which is supposed to be available this year,

  19. kirbyyasha says:

Fiber works in a similar manner, they leave the “Antenna Farm” (Headend) via Fiber, hit a box called a node, that transforms it from Fiber to Coax, and then the coax hits the house. That way, the signal can be extended further without amps. This is a Fiber to the Node layout. Pretty reliable and powerful system too.

  20. Wizho117MX says:

    what about fiber?
    way too simplified
